Not just "another pair of black shoes" Report Signature has taken over my closet!
See! I told you NOT just another pair of black shoes…the Report Signature ‘Leeton’ platform pumps retail for $195 but are ON SALE at Nordstrom (only sz.9 left last I checked) for $96.90. ALL Sizes seem to be available on Endless also for $96.90. You will LOVE these ladies. I was thrilled to receive the Leeton because surprisingly, I didn’t have a style like this one and it’s fabulous! 5” heels with a mild 1/2” platform, so nothing obtrusive. I really like how they look and they’re easy to walk in so ‘nuff said! p.s. I’m a sz. 7 in these…
And an applause for one of the hottest pair of boots I own! The Report Signature ‘Chrystie’ bootie’s are not only a joy to wear, Yes…I said a joy to wear! But, they are super comfy! I wouldn’t run a marathon in them, but you can certainly run around town looking quite stylish in these lovelies, no problem! These retailed for $275. I haven’t been able to find them online anywhere for purchase, but you can try contacting Report Footwear directly to see if perhaps they might be able to sniff out a pair for you. I’m wearing a sz. 6.5 in the booties.
Be sure to follow along with Report Footwear via their social media outlets to be in the know on all things Report Signature! FACEBOOK and TWITTER

Kitsch Couture hosts Shopping, Saving & Sequins for a Holiday 101 Soiree!
I was beyond excited getting dressed for my ‘Holiday 101 with Shopping, Saving & Sequins’ event hosted at Kitsch Couture on Saturday night!! I had been wondering what the heck I was going to wear for days. Santa must have told the lovelies over at Georgie brand that this silly girl was convinced she had nothing to wear! LoL!! They sent over the ‘Heidi’ faux fur coat…my very first faux fur ever! And needless to say, I friggin’ love it. Didn’t think a faux fur could actually keep me significantly warm, but it sure did on this bitter cold night out in downtown Palo Alto…
Alice + Olivia black peplum dress (gift card I won w/ Bloomingdale’s)
Nightcap Clothing cut-out leggings (gc I won w/ Singer22)
Georgie brand faux fur coat (gifted)
Miu Miu bag (gc I won w/ Bloomingdale’s)
Report Signature boots (gifted)
Pop of Chic Flor ring
Chanel Peridot nail polish (gc I won w/ Bloomingdale’s)
Had a lovely time with the ladies at Kitsch…owner Salomeh and her mom are so stylish. Salomeh is the buyer for this fab boutique and I had to tell her that her taste is fabulous because I literally love everything…EVERYTHING in the store. Sequins and sparkles abound, along with velvety blazers and chunky sweaters and gorgeous dresses! I was very much in my element…
Scarves being a quintessential part of Fall/Winter wardrobes, were quite the topic of conversation as one reader Julia, who came out to join us, showed us all how she wraps her scarves…what can I say? I was easily impressed considering I literally knew of one way to tie my scarves…hence why I wear a lot of eternity scarves now! LoL!!
This was so cute and very creative!
Thank you Miss Julia…I’m loving this style! This was so simple! Love it.
On a side note…Julia’s boots got rave reviews from just about…everyone!
And so the night was filled with tasty bites and bubbly, of course, which led to some fun conversations and styling outfits for New Year’s Eve fiestas…
Also, it was very fun to meet reader, Diana, of Bay Area Fashion Eye who also popped in! I instantly made her show me her amazing Report Signature heels…look at those RED heels….loves!
And so, as the night slowly came to an end…I decided to try on a long sequined dress that had my name written all over it…enough sequins for ya?! :o)
I want to thank the lovely ladies at Kitsch who sponsored the ‘Holiday 101 with Shopping, Saving & Sequins’ event…my sister…and the lovely ladies who came out and joined us for the evening…it was great getting to know some people a little better, and it was wonderful to meet some new readers!
Kitsch Couture has two locations, their first being in downtown Los Gatos, California and their latest establishment in downtown Palo Alto, CA, where the soiree was held.
Lastly, but surely not the least, a thank you to Bill Daniels with Los Gatos salon, Parlour 308… my sister, a regular client of Bill’s, introduced me to Bill and he graciously sponsored this event as well by bestowing upon me a most sensatiable hairstyle! I showed him a picture I saw of a model from an Alice + Olivia shoot and he went to work…
My style was nothing short of a hit since I received RAVE reviews from all of you!! You all are so sweet….I happen to adore what Bill did and I know you will too if you’re a local here in the Bay Area. A styling like mine will run you around $55. Products used were Bumble & Bumble styling lotion for volume and smoothness (used disparigingly at roots while blowdrying out sections) and Brilliantine to lightly piece out sections for definition!

DATE: Saturday, December 17, 2011
PLACE: Kitsch Couture Boutique in downtown Palo Alto
Yesterday afternoon was the epitome of a lazy Sunday…it was so nice to do nothing, and then at around 2pm, my sis and I decided to head to Hobee’s because I was starving! Mmmmm….I was dying for a homey, laid-back atmosphere and a yummy omelette. I seriously love Hobee’s. I love walking in at 2pm on a Sunday and being welcomed by the insatiable aroma of their signature blueberry coffee cake. We got a great seat in the corner and instantly ordered some of our fave drinks…
Veronica sat back and worked on her law homework while I dove into my meal…ham & cheese omelette, hash browns on the side with bluberry coffee cake…warm butter melting all over it…scrumptious!
Christmas music played in the background and the entire place was decorated to celebrate the season…love it…
The Minnis AND Grannis families are always at Hobee’s on the weekends, at one of their various locations throughout the bay area…our faves being in Sunnyvale and Cupertino. Lazy Sunday’s at Hobee’s are the best, especially during the Winter….so warm and homey.
Urbanwalls Wall Decals ~ You're going to LOVE this one!
Okay, so one day as I was scrolling down my facebook feed, I happened to come across a post from The Doctor’s Closet (another fashion blog I keep tabs on from time to time). She was very enthusiastic about this company called Urbanwalls Wall Decals and to tell you the truth, the photos instantly caught my eye just as a pair of glittery miu miu’s pop out at me as I page through InStyle! I had to check it out and I loved what I saw! Just have a look for yourself….
When I saw how these decals transformed those rooms in the photos above I was instantly inspired! I thought why not give it a whirl since I’ve been transforming my closet/office space….Naturally, I thought something to do with my blog would be fun so I contacted Danielle Hardy with Urbanwalls via their Etsy Store to see what they could do.
I sent her a photo of my space so she had an idea of what I was trying to convey. My request was simple and after emailing back and forth we settled on a design and color and size I liked….and then, Danielle surprised me when my order suddenly appeared in my mailbox on Friday afternoon! A very sweet surprise no doubt!
So, this morning, coffee in hand, I set about gathering what I needed to get this big sticker on my wall having never done a home project quite like this before….I really didn’t want to screw this up! I realized I was over thinking the process and I just needed to jump in and DO IT!!
(1) Here I had rolled out my sticker from its poster tube and cut around the lettering. Since this was relatively small, I just did it as one big sticker as opposed to cutting everything out individually.
(2) Here I just lightly taped the whole thing to the wall where I figured I wanted it. I did this just to be sure THIS was where I wanted my decal to go. Once I was satisfied, I took it off the wall and VERY CAREFULLY removed the tacky paper from the sticker and stuck the sticker back onto the wall where I had decided it was going to go…LIGHTLY. After I made a couple adjustments to make sure it was going to go on straight, I began rubbing down on the whole sticker in small, brisk, hard circles. Then, taking my drivers license, I rubbed it over the gold lettering making sure I got each letter good. Now, time to peel away the sticker to reveal the gold lettering…..
(3) Here I was very lightly pulling back the sticker to reveal the decal! Looking good!! Looking real good!!
Presto! Isn’t she lovely? I love the gold metallic against the green wall…exactly how I pictured it, only so much better. This went so well it obviously got me thinking about the other rooms in the house that we are slowly but surely changing up….endless possibilites because Urbanwalls has plenty of decals you can choose from should you not want to design your own.
I absolutely love how this looks in my room…personalizing it. Thank you so much Danielle! It’s fantastic. I can’t wait to show it off to people who are allowed entry into my private chamber! LoL!! =)

Eyedews are my latest beauty obsession...and all it took was one try!
One of the reasons I love interacting with my readers via social media is because of the new things you guys introduce me to all the time. One of my long-time readers, Nicole, said I should try out something called Eyedews. I had never heard of them and, as usual, wary to purchase anything I haven’t heard of before.
Well, I was in luck. Eyedews thought I needed to be informed about their wondrous product too and sent me some to try out! Yay!! NOW, I can give you guys my report…and it’s a fantastic one!
“De-stress, De-puff and Deliver the Nutrients. Activated by the body’s warmth, the nutrients store in these flexible jelly masks are absorbed directly into the delicate skin below the eye.”
I put my Eyedews in the refridgerator to properly chill them…that’s the best part! When you take these clear jelly masks & place them on your under-eye area, they instantly deliver a shot of cold freshness that seriously excites you to lay back, relax, and allow the eyedew masks to perform their magic….
I had Adam take some less than flattering photos of me wearing my eyedews! LoL!! A change from my usuaI photos posted up on the blog! I was fresh out of the shower, in my soft sweats, perfectly clean face…ready to lay back and enjoy my first Eyedews experience. They’re cold, slippery little guys but once on, oh so soothing….twenty minutes and a short nap later, I removed the jelly masks and to my amazement, my skin felt slightly tighter yet smoother and even Adam said, “Wow! You look a lot better!” Ummmmm….thanks honey, I think?! Haahaaaa! But he was right. I was sleep deprived and stressed out and could not have waited for a more perfect time to take these for a spin. I really DID look refreshed and I felt refreshed. My skin felt wonderful!
Bottom line ladies. I’m SOLD! And so will you after you try these out for the first time because once was ALL it took to reel me in. I’m definitely a new fan and grateful to have found something that actually WORKS. To see and feel results after the first shot was almost too good to be true! I really am so happy to have these and plan on being a customer for life!
Finally. It's official...I can say I'm a proud owner of a Cambridge Satchel!
Quick! Somebody pinch me!! Can it be? Yes. After all my obsessing, I have a beautiful bag courtesy of one truly remarkable woman, Julie Deane ~ the owner of The Cambridge Satchel Company! To see an email in my inbox from her directly came as a pleasant shock to say the least…..you see, I first caught a glimpse of these fantastic leather satchels in New York, specifically during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. And it was love at first sight. I could have never imagined myself carrying a bright, neon-colored bag in a million years, but there was something curiously appealing about these fab “fluro” little satchels…..and I just HAD to have one. It was stuck in my mind! I was literally seeing these bags everywhere, well specifically on fellow bloggers and editors and stylists like Brad Goreski and I knew I was onto something good!
Julie and her team so graciously gifted me with the “fluro” green batchel that you’ve seen me toting just about everywhere lately! And they made my little dreams come true even more so by embossing my initials in gold onto the bag….I am just beside myself with this bag…I love it! You can’t even imagine all the things I carry around…from file folders and my netbook to my cameras and make-up!
I was delighted when my new virtual friend, Julie Deane, agreed to entertain us with wonderful and thoughtful answers to some interesting questions about THE Cambridge Satchel and so, here you go:
SSS: Okay, so Julie, Why a satchel? Was this the original idea, the first design? How did The Cambridge Satchel come to be?
JD: It was a very straightforward reason that my mum and I started the company, one that anyone with children will be able to relate to, my children were 6 and 8 - my 8 year old was being bullied at school - she had changed from an outgoing happy little girl to a solitary, quiet figure. It was heartbreaking and I needed to move her to a school where she would thrive and get back to the wonderful, happy little person she had always been. I found the right school but it’s private and so I needed to make school fee money. I couldn’t send one and not the other so I knew exactly what I needed and nothing would put me off, I was so determined. If you feel you are doing something to make things better, rather than sitting, worrying and feeling helpless then that’s got to be the way to go.
I had been looking for satchels for Em and Max for a while - we had been reading Harry Potter and there was no doubt in my mind that with that Hogwart’s uniform the bag would have been a satchel! I couldn’t find any that I was happy with and so I hoped I wasn’t the only one looking. Thank goodness I was right and so both children have moved school and are happy as clams!!
SSS: Did the tremendous success of The Cambridge Satchel surprise you? Has it frustrated you in any way?
JD: The success has stunned us, I am thrilled to bits and the lovely people I have met along the way have been wonderful. The fashion bloggers helped so much and really spread the word - my business was started with £600 (about $800 at the time) and my mum and I worked from the kitchen table for the first year and a half. Keeping up with demand has been the only really frustrating part - I want everyone to have their bag the next day but they are made by hand and I was let down when one UK manufacturer I tried to help by teaching him how to make our bags and buying all the leather up front turned and used my leather to launch a rival range. Seeing my ideas and designs felt such a betrayal - I suppose imitation is a form of flattery but I have always treated the manufacturers fairly, paid promptly and been completely honest with them - this came as a real wake up call to the kind of people I had been lucky enough not to have come across previously and so Cambridge Satchel set up it’s own UK workshops.
SSS: What or from where or from whom do you get your inspiration?
JD: Cambridge Satchel works with such great designers and creative people, we have the nicest customers who write in and suggest colours or bags they’d love to see and can’t get. A classic design, no clutter, a bag that will look great with any outfit, daytime or night, that’s what we aim for.
SSS: Where do you see your fabulous company in the future? I’m vying for a U.S. boutique myself…and hoping San Francisco is a potential location! LoL! And I’ve probably just overwhelmed you beyond belief with that thought! =)
JD: Ooooh, I love San Francisco - my family was there this summer and it sounds a perfect location for a Cambridge Satchel boutique! my husband is American and we lived in the States when we were first married so it always feels like home. I can see a cable car with our logo on…. black and white stripes for Alcatraz (my little boy would love that!). This company grows through people with passion and so I’m up for it!
SSS: With so many colors and styles to choose from Julie, do YOU have a particular favorite?
JD: After the first year my son Max saw that I always used the satchels that weren’t good enough to sell, and he said that I should have the very best, not seconds and he saved up and bought me one! It’s a 15” dark brown with a gold ‘J’ embossed on the front. I use it as my work bag and it’s very special to me. The other special one I have is one that one of the manufacturers made for me to take to Wales rugby games (I’m a big fan) here it is:
SSS: Finally, who or what has been your saving grace? Meaning, throughout all the struggles and successes of a rising company, what has grounded you and kept you focused?
JD: These little ones, remembering why we started and what’s important…Every day I have my mum, who is now in her 70s, working beside me, Rupert (my dog and confidante) and the best team any business could have.
I couldn”t resist adding a photo of Julie with her dog Rupert…woman’s best friend!

Newport Beach for The Earnest Sewn Co. Launch Party ~ Good times & Great jeans!
An excuse to get away for a weekend?? Yes Please! Adam, my husband and A&V Photographer, and my sister Veronica and I spent the past weekend in Newport Beach. Invited to the Earnest Sewn Co.’s latest store launch party at Fashion Island, we eagerly scooped up the opportunity to spend some time soaking in the last few remnants of Summer down South.
This was our first time staying at the Fairmont Newport Beach and we were all totally 100% pleased! I got a great deal on our room, free wifi, $15 towards our food every day which may not sound like much, but every penny counts! And besides the deals, the room was great, the beds were so fluffy, the service was lovely and the food was GREAT.
We unpacked, settled in, enjoyed a quick, late meal and spent the next day kicking back at the pool surrounded by cabannas, each containing a television for extra entertainment. Who says a business trip has to be all business! =)
After frolicking around the pool situation all afternoon, I met up with friend and long-time blog fan Autumn at Fashion Island. We walked around scoping out the latest Fall fashion, but mainly gabbing away as us girlies tend to do!
Ok! Time to get back to the hotel and get all dolled up for the reason we came to Newport Beach ~ The Earnest Sewn Co. had a fabulous soiree to launch their latest, NEW location at Fashion Island! Adam, Veronica and I had a great time munching on the yummy, YUMMY bites and sipping cocktails as we shopped and checked out some awesome denim! We LOVED the new store and the fiesta! So fun!!
Yay!! Got to meet up with Earnest Sewn’s, Sarah H. who invited me to this lovely soiree! Absolutely LOVE her!
And now meet the “Newport Jean”….I had to get them…buttons and rivets dipped in 24 karat gold…part of a special capsule collection, only available at the Newport location, I have 1 of 23 pairs of this limited edition style. Yep. HOW could I pass them up? They look amazebubbles on and I kind of have a hankering for items with exclusivity. They feel wonderful and what do you know…I needed a pair of black jeans! Seriously! =)
Newport Earnest’s Katie C. was the bomb! Totally helpful, sweet and put up with Adam’s silliness! Fun lady ~ love her!
Some tre cool shoes I spotted on a fellow party attendee…
A Scrub I'm Giving the SSS Seal of Approval ~ Refined Finish Facial Polish by Benefit
I am always on the look-out for self-beautifying products…there’s nothing quite like pampering yourself to make you feel luxurious and at ease with the world, and that’s exactly how I felt after testing out Benefit’s ‘Refined Finish Facial Polish’. First of all, the smell. The insanely fresh scent emanates from the packaging as you open it and you instantly want to envelope yourself in it…I actually held on to the empty box for a couple days because it just smelled that pleasant. So clean! So pure and fresh! I couldn’t wait to use it.
I’m a sucker for packaging, so after I swooned over the cute box and the lovely scent, I got down to business and got scrubbing away with my new scrub! I just cannot get over how fresh it smells and what a delight it was to wash my face with…can they make a body scrub like this because it’s just THAT intoxicating!
My face was baby soft and smelled beyond fantastic. I absloutely LOVE this exfoliator and definitely recommend it to everyone. It’s a must-buy, so next time you’re isle-surfing at Sephora looking for something to take home, snag this scrub! Your face will thank you!

…And just to think, three dots began as just a little brand with a simple concept. 3 styles. 3 sizes and 12 colors…and that was almost 20 years ago! They’ve come a long way and the best part, it’s all made right here at home, in the USA.
*special thank you to VPR for providing such great pieces for me to style!
I have to say, I really lucked out with my accommodations while I spent a week in NYC for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. My aunts building is perfectly situated in the middle of everything…well, somewhere between Little Italy and Soho! That’s “everything” to me! I was within walking distance of all my favorite stores and I was in heaven…Uncle Tony cooked for me every day…it was better than staying in a hotel any day! I need to go back soon…very soon!
Considering my surroundings, I couldn’t wait to walk downstairs, go around the corner, walk down a block or two and poof, in less than 5 minutes I was shopping at two of my favorite brands which just so happened to be next door to each other in Soho. Vince and an ADAM pop-up had just opened up to my delight! Upon this realization, I suddenly thought about how incredibly broke I would be if I lived down the street from ADAM & Vince….broke but impeccably dressed!
I wasn’t planning on getting anything really at Vince, but I was “needing” a simple, black fitted tee and I knew they would have a fab soft one. Well, I found my tee and then I also found an excellent pair of black corduroy-ish leggings and they are going to be wonderful for Fall/Winter. They looked great on so naturally I couldn’t pass them up…plus I was itching to spend some money! Ha! I loved the Vince store in Soho. Now…on to ADAM!
Naturally, I had to pick up something ravishing to wear to the ADAM Spring/Summer 2012 show I was to attend. And so I was beyond stoked to realize this little store had literally just opened up and had hosted Adam Lippes himself at their launch party on Fashion’s Night Out. Obviously from my pictures, it’s a perfectly quaint and chic boutique situated in a stylish neighborhood. I enjoyed my shopping trip thoroughly thanks to the sweet people working there. After an easy decision-making process, I decided on a bold blue/black printed number that I fell in love with the second I saw it…
ADAM can do no wrong. The dress purchase made my day, my month! LoL! I wanted to sleep in it that night…my aunt thought I was nuts. The best part of the purchase was that I got 25% off because the store was celebrating their opening through the weekend! Perfect. I really wished I had realized how close this store was to me during the Fashion’s Night Out festivities! I would have definitely stopped by on my way home. I literally walked right by that night without a second look….
…speaking of FNO, I had an insane, INSANE time at the DVF in the Meatpacking district. Fashion’s Night Out was September 8th, 2011 and served as the official kick-off to New York Fashion Week. I decided to high-tail it over to the amazingly beautiful DVF store to do a little shopping, a little drinking and catching a glimpse of DVF herself!
The DVF FNO event started at 6 and went on till 11 that night and I was there for the majority of it. Thank goodness I got my shopping out of the way pronto because I stood in line for 45 minutes to get a vodka tonic! LoL!! And thank you to that bartender who made it an extra stiff vodka tonic, anticipating that I would most likely not be silly enough to stand in line again for another drink. He was correct!
Drink in hand, bags at my side, I found a perfect spot to sit on the “stairway to heaven” and instantly began snapping great photos and videos which I’m sure you’ve all seen on the facebook page! I’m not a “pink” girl, but I have since found myself obsessing over that star printed pink/navy wrap dress, a.k.a. DVF’s “wrap of the month.” I love it.
Anyway, little by little, people started realizing that the stairs was THE best place to be when Diane came in and started dancing to the beats and greeting everyone with a fabulous smile. As we waited for guest performer Estelle to arrive, yes, I said ESTELLE!! It was aweosme….anyway, as I was saying…Diane handed out ribbons she had sprayed with her NEW scent, appropriately named ‘Diane’ to everyone in the crowd. I also received a free sample of the scent when I had made my purchase, and let me tell you…it smells so wonderful. The scent will not be available to the public till October, so this was a fun exclusive sneak peak or should I say, sneak smell?? Mmmmmm….it smells so good…you’re going to want it when it comes out, so be sure to check it out!
Estelle arrived clad in a fabulous DVF jumpsuit, naturally, and opened up with a performance of “American Boy” to which we all were dancing and singing, and I almsot tipped over about 3 times if it weren’t for the nice guys I met! LoL!! I love my leopard-print booties, but teetering on them for hours on a staricase, smooshed with a ton of people is exhausting, and kinda dangerous! Haaahaaa! It was all worth it though. SO much fun.
FNO marked the begining of NY Fashion Week and so off I went with my friend Jana of Poor Lil’ Rich Girl NYC, to Lincoln Center for the ADAM S/S 2012 Show! We saw Miss J Alexander, “Miss J” as we were entering the tents. Naturally, we had to ham it up in front of the camera as we went inside.
Whoops!! FASHION ROADKILL! Only Jana could make it look good dressed in a chic, black, lace Romeo & Juliett Couture maxi with a gold CHANEL bag at her side, no one noticed the damn shoes that had betrayed her! LoL!! Showtime…
I was quickly snapped by “SpottinStyle" as I walked in to the show…
And as fate would have it, and I wasn’t the least bit surprised, other’s were wearing the same ADAM dress from the Fall 2011 Collection, just out NOW, and a must see! There were a few things I wanted to scoop up while I bought this dress…but let’s face it…I would have needed some more moolah for THAT kind of a spree!
The show was amazing. Beautiful florals, masculine suits made ultra-feminine with drop-waists and floral prints…I even found myself loving the grapefruit pink dress…I want it all…simply gorgeous and might I say, very “Cali-style” to a tee.
Getty Images & AP Images.
Overall, Jana and I had a great time & decided to commemorate the event by using one of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week’s sponsors, Rowentta’s, fun photo booths…yes, we just HAD to…who could resist?!
I Love NY during this time of the year. I used to make the trip out religiously every Summer as a child, but now it’s a lot more fun! I loved the styles and the wonderful photographic opportunities provided…
See the full gallery on Posterous I think it’s safe to say I had an excellent time…and I want to, need to go back very soon. Needless to say, on my last day I went shopping and got a fab infinity scarf at TopShop! Love that store…and then, as luck would have it, right before I took off for JFK to return to San Francisco…I won a pair of jeans from M2F Denim AND a $100 gift card to Bloomingdale’s. Yes. My luck is on a roll!

It's Good to be a Winner at Bloomingdale's...Really Good!
[[posterous-content:pid___0]]This was THE Winning outfit for Day 1 of the Bloomingdale’s 11 Day Style Contest way back in March…and naturally, I couldn’t believe it. My winning outfit consisted of lace-front Sena leggings, Frye boots, a long Alice + Olivia black tank under a nude/sheer Alice + Olivia blouse topped off with a scarf, pearls and a Cole Haan bag….It’s all in the details ladies…all in the details! And wow…did it pay off!
[[posterous-content:pid___1]][[posterous-content:pid___2]]Bloomingdale’s provided flights round trip for Adam and I so we asked to be booked on Virgin since we wanted to try out this new airline, and it was pretty cool! LoL! Yes. I said cool! BIG fan of these TV screens for everyone…definitely made the time pass fast as I was one eager girl to get to NYC!
[[posterous-content:pid___3]]We made it! We got off the plane and were promptly whisked off to our hotel by an awaiting car which was also arranged by the fabulous people with Bloomingdale’s! Easy-Peazy! No standing around in the heat & humidity waiting for a cab…nope. Not us! Off we went to check-in for our 3 day/2night stay at The Alex Hotel located in midtown, specifically on 45th between 2nd & 3rd. As you can see from the above shot, we had a great view of the Chrysler building from our room!
[[posterous-content:pid___4]]I loved our stay at The Alex. Loved. Great location and a totally welcoming and friendly staff. We had a very easy check-in thanks to Bloomingdale’s once again picking up the tab. And when we got to our room, we were amazed! Bloomie’s booked us in a faboosh corner suite set up with a kitchen and all….and as if they hadn’t done enough, Bloomingdale’s had a Welcome Gift sitting on table when we walked in! The sweet touch consisted of a stunning leather Carlos Falchi metallic tote that was stuffed with goodies ~ an Elizabeth Hurley rose-scented candle and traveling accessories which no doubt made my tip back to SF a cinch!
[[posterous-content:pid___5]][[posterous-content:pid___6]]So, we got situated in our uber mod-styled room and I immediately headed for a soak in the bath because we had a cocktail party to attend 2 hours after we checked-in! Bloomingdale’s arranged a light cocktail party to welcome all the winners in a special room upstairs in the hotel bar. And of course, I was “fashionably late”! LoL!! I was so excited to wear my new leopard printed Weston Wear dress with my Louboutins, no less! Vintage bag and my emerald cocktail ring to boot! Party time dolls!
[[posterous-content:pid___7]][[posterous-content:pid___8]]I had such a great time meeting people and finally putting some faces to some names…
[[posterous-content:pid___9]]OMG!! I met up with fellow winner Carl & what do you know…Carl & I found out we are BOTH from Sunnyvale, Cali!! It truly is a small world! And so the champagne flowed and the night got even spicier!
[[posterous-content:pid___10]]Obviously Monika of Anytime Scarf and I thought Bloomingdale’s threw us a fabulous little soiree…I had a blast…can you tell…that is definitely the face of a WINNER! Haaahaaaa!! Here I am celebrating the $5,000 gift card Bloomingdale’s handed out at the cocktail party. And in typical “Vanessa-fashion” I celebrated till late in the night and made life difficult on myself the next morning…but it was worth it! I had sooo much fun. Darn you champagne! :o)
[[posterous-content:pid___11]]Saturday morning, 9am sharp, cars awaited us outside our hotel to take us to the mothership…and once again, I was late! This west coast fashionista was definitely still running on Cali-time! LoL! Jet-lagged and hungover, I put on my BIG shades and prepared myself. But NOTHING could have prepared me for the sheer awe of walking in to the Bloomingdale’s 59th Street Store in NYC completely and utterly empty. A door man held open the giant glass door and said, “Welcome,” and for a brief moment I totally forgot the champagne that was casting a shadow on my morning! I felt like little orphan Annie walking into the Daddy Warbux mansion for the very first time…here I was, the store (an entire city block) all to me and the other winners. Simply surreal.
[[posterous-content:pid___12]]Adam and I were escorted to the posh private shopper area where we joined the fellow winners and their guests. Fruit plates, juice, coffee all laid out for us to have a quick, light breakfast while we were all introduced to our personal shoppers. The wonderful, WONDERFUL ladies who helped me shop it up were Evie and Patricia. They surpassed any expectations I had. So sweet and down-to-earth…Patricia was so accomodating and understanding when I let her know this gal was going to need to take a break from how overwhelming the whole experience was…I returned to The Alex for some rest and then went back to Bloomingdale’s later that afternoon to shop with my best friend Rachel who lives in Jersey, and thankfully graced me and Bloomie’s with her presence! I just couldn’t shop without her and she snapped photos of everything for me.
[[posterous-content:pid___13]][[posterous-content:pid___14]][[posterous-content:pid___15]]Time to PLAY DRESS-UP!!!
[[posterous-content:pid___16]][[posterous-content:pid___17]][[posterous-content:pid___18]][[posterous-content:pid___19]]So, after having a fit session, I left the lovely confines of my private fitting room to explore this massive Bloomingdale’s and ended up smitten with a bag over at Miu Miu…and let me add, by the way, that Rachel & I fell inlove with the sales peeps over at Miu Miu…extremely fun bunch! I had a great time spending money there! LoL!!
[[posterous-content:pid___20]]And here is the moment I first used the $5k gift card to purchase this amazing Miu Miu bag! Oooooooooo….Awwwwwww…..yeeesssss…it’s simply divine.
[[posterous-content:pid___21]][[posterous-content:pid___22]][[posterous-content:pid___23]]And after I shopped till I dropped…that phrase has never rung more true than after this experience, I bid my farewells to my shoppers and to the best store I’ve ever been in my entire life. Once outside, Rachel had to pull herself away from the Sergio Rossi’s she needs, yes NEEDS, for her upcoming wedding! :o)
[[posterous-content:pid___24]]The shopping done, most of the gift card spent, Rachel and I walked the streets gabbing and catching up and just loving being in the same city together. The perfect end to a beyond amazing day. We snagged a cab and headed back to The Alex where we sadly said our goodbye’s and parted ways. Adam and I relaxed and enjoyed our final evening in the city…can we say room service? Most definitely!
[[posterous-content:pid___25]]We got a late check-out the following day, took a quick last stroll over to Bloomie’s where Adam got a fab Vince cardigan and I said goodbye…again! LoL!! So hard to leave when we had such a great time. We got back to The Alex just in time to be picked up the car service that Bloomingdale’s arranged to take us back to JFK for our return flight to SFO. They thought if it all…not one detail missed. Not one thing overlooked. I was thoroughly impressed. It was as if it was all a dream…a most magnificent dream.
[[posterous-content:pid___26]]Bloomingdale’s took care of shipping all my purchases to me and I am eagerly awaiting their arrival! So, you will all have to keep posted because the next blog post will be focused ENTIRELY on EVERYTHING I bought with the $5K gift card! You’ll see all the key pieces I bought and how I’ve styled them. Very exciting indeed! I can hardly wait. What you saw in this was post was just a sneak peak!
A huge thank you to Bloomingdale’s for treating us like royalty. Nothing could beat this truly unreal expereince and perfectly it was all carried out.

Hobee's...Because every Fashionista needs a good meal to keep up the energy to shop!!
I adore Hobee’s. And No. Hobee’s is not a boutique! LoL! This skinny fashionista LOVES to eat, as shocking as that may seem to some of you! Lord knows I eat but we have no CLUE where it all goes. So, for now, I’m thankful for my crazy metabolism and great genes because they allow me to stuff my face whenever I pop over to Hobee’s for a feast!
Hobee’s is like my home away from home. I’m pushing 30 years old and this delicious Bay Area establishment has been welcoming me even before I was a blip on the radar! My parents went to Hobee’s and still do, and so Adam and I have continued the tradition merrily. This is OUR official brunch spot. I can usually be seen scarfing down an amazing ham & cheese omelette, hash browns on the side, & yummy wheat toast slathered with butter. Dee-lish! And almost every trip isn’t complete unless I indulge in one of their amazing smoothies. I always get the strawberry-banana with lot’s of whipped cream! =)
I know all my local Bay Areans are fully aware of this fab eatery, so for my out-of-towners who happen to be visiting the lovely San Francisco Bay Area, Hobee’s will make you feel right at home. My favorite location has got to be the Cupertino one, across from DeAnza College, right off of highway 85. I promise you will not be disappointed.
You can follow along with Hobee’s via their FACEBOOK page or TWITTER account to find out about specials AND every Friday they have a GIVEAWAY on their Facebook page! In the past year, I have won a bottle of Clos La Chance wine, a t-shirt AND a $25 gift card to eat at one of their homey locations. Need I say anymore??? Probably not…BUT, one last comment…Hobee’s is KNOWN for their insanely delictable blueberry coffee cake. I didn’t post a picture of this famous cake because photos do it no justice whatsoever…if you’re ever in Hobee’s, ORDER THE COFFEE CAKE! You can thank me later. =)

All I have to say is I LOVE my New Gypsy05 charcoal ombre maxi dress. I’ve wanted a Gypsy maxi for a very, VERY long time and I finally scored a great deal on Hautelook and snagged this lovely dress for a fab $61! My first Gypsy piece and most certainly not my last!
I was playing dress-up in my closet before heading off to lunch with Adam and for fun started messing around with my late grandmother’s vintage Christian Dior belt…wrapped a couple times around me, empire-waist style, I tied a not and tucked one end into the layers…I loved it. The perfect combination of something old and something new…
Needless to say we had fun taking pictures on this gorgeous Summer day =)

**Special thank you to my sister’s friend JT for providing such an awesome car for an impromptu shoot! INLOVE with that mustang!
So, "they" said you would be MAD to miss this event...I beg to differ.

Lovely, inviting announcements for what promised to be quite an evening of sips, treats & what I hoped to be an awesome display of a highly anticipated collection. From the looks of the photos I’ve seen streaming out all over the net and twitter, this soiree seemed to be quite the happenin’ event at many locations nationwide…this was sadly not the case at the Palo Alto, California location where I attended this “event”.

As you can see, the so-called cocktails consisted of merely syrup & I wasn’t sure I even saw any soda water to mix with the syrup…icky….I stayed away from those! LoL! And the treats were spread out in a sorry display up at the register unappetizingly…not at all what I had expected. Palo Alto had a very lack-luster event and the staff seemed as exciting as the “cocktails” being served. One man even pointed out disappointedly that there were literally only 2 pieces from the collection on display for the men.

On the other hand, I suppose the women’s collection was a tad more plentiful than the men’s…although, I had to ask the guy where exactly the collection WAS. I mean, obviously I assumed it was right up at the front of the store, but it was so BLAH, I walked right by. Most of it was folded and totally not catching the eye like you would have expected for a COLLECTION VIEWING EVENT. I took photos of the few pieces I saw and even though most of the internet is abuzz with how much people LOVE the collection, I was not impressed. The “Mad Men” style really seemed to be interjected into the pieces by simply adding a strand of pearls or a floral button-up cardigan…nothing out of the ordinary for Banana. In my opinion, Banana Republic saw the ever-growing public adoration and enthusiasm of the HBO series, and wanted to hop on the popularity train…

These are the images I was able to capture before the store manager so awesomely told me to take a hike! LOL! No, she didn’t actually tell me to take a hike, but she may as well have ~ She did tell me to refrain from taking any further pictures and so I took that as an invitation to leave since we all know how easily offended I can get! Haaahaaa! Refrain from taking pictures? REALLY?? Sure doesn’t look like that was the case in all the other stores hosting the same event. I like to think that the manager just didn’t want her staff’s peeved looks and seemingly bored demeanor caught on film. Needless to say, I wasn’t much of a Banana girl before the Mad Men Collection, and the event definitely failed to reel me in.
If you’d like to see and read about a Collection Viewing Event done RIGHT, then check out this post I did last year on BCBG’s holiday Collection Viewing Event. It was amazing to say the least! Music, sushi, champagne flowing all night, amazing clothes on display and gift bags for attendees in addition to a giveaway! Banana should take some notes! Just sayin…
